Derryconnor Stud is owned and managed by Katie Mcgivern and has been a successful breeze up consignment since 2012. She has enjoyed numerous successes in the sales ring and on the track highlighted by Gr.3 Nell Gwyn Stakes winner and Classic-placed Daban (pictured above) and Royal Ascot winner and Classic runner-up La Brivido, whom she pinhooked in partnership with Longways Stables.
Based in Co. Wexford on a new purpose built facility, it includes 20 stables, lunge ring, horse walker and gallop. It also boasts onsite veterinary facilities along with easy access to the nearby beach.
Born and raised in Portlester Stud in Co. Meath, from where her mother Joanna Morgan operated a top breeze-up operation before embarking on a successful training career which yielded numerous winners on the flat and national hunt. Katie’s father Tommy also was a successful trainer in the states. After growing up surrounded by training horses, working in Willie Browne’s top breeze-up yard and spending time in Australia, Katie decided to set up her own consignment named Derryconnor Stud in 2012.
